Why it’s used

Zero-calorie, plant-derived high-intensity sweeteners extracted and purified from the stevia plant. They're marketed as a 'natural' sugar substitute in beverages, tabletop sweeteners, and reduced-sugar foods; only purified extracts, not whole-leaf stevia, are approved for use as a food additive.
